Nediyath Family History

Nediyath Family, Kattachira , A Brief History.

Being a third generation member of Nediyath family, in 1971 out of mere curiosity I started enquiring about the family history.
The information what I collected from then living senior most family members and well known people of Kattachira, like Sreeman Kattachira Pappudas, the famous Gusti&Kalari Guru of Kerala, are condensed here with.

Odanadu Natturajiam was later on known as Kayamkulamrajiam ,was very often attacked by the King Marthandavarma.To defend his Rajiam the Kayamkulam King formed Regular Army ,Paramilitery,Suicide Squard,and even Spies. The suicide Squard was known as Chaver Sainniyam,which was mostly of Tall and well built Christian and Muslim Prajas of Kayamkulam King. They were identified by their Shaved Head and eyebrows, with Large Kappada Meesa.Thease CHAVERS were given free access to fish from any pond and tap Toddy from anywhere.
One such legendary Chaver named Mathen ,was given the Honorary title as “THARAKAN” by the King. This Mathen Tharakan lived in kattachira or not is not known. But his youngest son, Mathaunny (or Mathanoonny ?) married Elamma from Pulimootil, Mavelikara and lived inNediyath Kattachira. He too carried the title Tharakan being the youngest son in the family.This Mathnunny Tharakan’s brothers and sisters are not known.
Mathanunny and Elamma had five children. They are Mathen ,Geevarghese, Kunjachen, Annamma, and Easo, in order.
The eldest of the five Mathen’s wife name is not known . He had six children. They are Yohannan, Saramma,Achiamma,Annamma,Mariamma,and Samuel. The Girls were married and went to various places and Yohannan and Samuel
stayed at Nediyath itself.
Of this two ,Yohannan married from Puthupurakizhakathil had six children,they are Lookose,Dani, Baby,Annamma, Thankamma, and Ammini.(Saramma is the mother of Pappy vaidian) (Achiamma married to Mavelikara)(Annamma and mariamma married and went Thazhava ) Samuel married and stayed at Nediyath, had four children,they are Chellamma, Kunjannamma, Thomaskutty,and Anian

Mathanunny’s second Son Geevarghese had only two Daughters. They are Sosamma,and Aliamma (Sosamma married Mathunny of Mozhukuttiyil and settled at Edayilyath ,children are Samuel, Annamma, and George.) (Aliyamma married whom is not known.). Geevarhese lived at Koparavadakathil.
The third son of Mathanunny, Kunjachan married from Nilakk,lived at Koppara, and had five children. They are Daveed, Chinnamma, ( kallumala) Kochachi, (pallipad) Mathan, and George.
Of this Daveed stayed at Koppara, had only two daughters, Kunjamma (Ramapuram) and Kunjannamma, (Thevalakara) Mathen had only one son Kunjukutty.lived in Kopparapeedikayil.George had three children,Gracy Babu, and Ponnamma.lived in Koppara.
The only daughter of Mathanunny, Annamma was married to Pallikalathu.
The youngest and the 4th son of Mathunny, Easo married Mavelakara Kottayil Ninan’s daughter Achamma. They had six children ,Mathew, Nainan, Pennamma ,(Muthukulam) Sosamma,(Thevalakara) Pappachen, and Mathunny
Of this Mathew married Achamma of Kallumpurath Mavelikra, and had three sons, Kunjukutty, Georgrkutty, and Baby.Stayed at Kochukaleekal
Nainan married Annamma, the daughter of Mannadikuttiyil Gevarghese of Kattanam,had six children, Kochukunju, podikunju,Samul kutty, Kunjukutty,Joy and Johney(twins)and only daughter Kunjumol.and stayed at Punthalatharayil.
Pennamma married to Mathai of Muthukulam,had four children, George, Kunjamma, Joy, and Lilly.
Sosamma Married to Koshy of Thevalakara,had five children, Lilly, Kochukunju,Baby, Johney, and Babu, lived at Kizhakemulakal,Ernakulam..
Pappachen married Kunjamma of Konni,had three children, Joshua, Kunjamma, and Leelamma.lived at Kuzhuvelilpadeetathil.
The youngest son of Easo Tharakan, Mathunny (he too was known as Tharakan)married Kunjaliyamma,daughter of Mathai of Kakkunnil Manjadithara, had seven children, Kunjumon, ponnamma, Money, Rosamma Alice,Kochumon, and Kochumol.stayed at Puramkuttiyil,Nediyath.

(The eldest son of MathunnyThakaran Kunjumon (N.M.John) recorded this history,what is mentioned is up to 3rd Generation. Now living are up to 4th,5th and even 6th may be. 3rd and 4th generation may identify their position in the family tree and the new family names and link back to NEDIYATH and develop their family details along with this Brief History.)

In doing so the future generation will be able to under stand each other with their own family names with that of Nediyath family.
